Our Vineyard Story

It is often said that great wines start in the vineyard and given our desire to make the very best wines possible we dreamed of one day having our own.  For years, while we made wines sourced from the vineyards of others, we searched for a location where we could make our dream come true.   In 2014, after exploring emerging wine regions across the country, we visited the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon and fell in love.  The climate was ideal for growing wine grapes and although still relatively unknown as a wine region there was a history with wines and vineyards reminiscent of the early days of Napa and Sonoma.  The valley was flourishing with family-owned vineyards, emerging winemakers, and a sense of community support.  It took us two more years to pack up our U-hauls and make the move from Colorado to Southern Oregon, a story in its own right.  After arriving in Southern Oregon, we began our search and after a year of searching serendipitously found our home on Carpenter Hill (another great story).   The property had its own history dating back into the late 1800s, had been a working dairy farm, and was currently farmed as a cattle ranch.  It would need some work, OK a lot of work, but the soils and slopes of the land were just what we were looking for, and it had water rights allowing it to be fully irrigated.  Over the following two years, the two of us built our vineyards from the ground up, learning to operate bulldozers to clear the land, backhoes to trench, and install irrigation, and in 2019 we planted our first 1000 vines.  Today we farm our vineyards for the most part by ourselves, we know them intimately and tend to them with the care needed to make great wines.  Our vineyards are planted to support our winemaking plans and tastes, we don’t have large lots of grapes available but have small lots available for home winemakers and amateurs.  Our vines were professionally sourced and certified, please contact us if you are interested in learning more about our vineyard, our varieties, or how to make your own wine!
